Marc Frappier - Biography
Marc Frappier is a full professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Sherbrooke. He is also the Scientific Director of the Intact Cybersecurity Expertise Hub and holder of the Research Chair in Post-Quantum Cybersecurity. He obtained his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Ottawa in 1995. His research interests focus on cybersecurity, particularly the transition to post-quantum cryptography, crypto‑agility, intrusion detection, and anomaly detection. He also conducts research on the formal specification, synthesis, and construction of software, and on their applications to security and model‑based testing. He has published more than a hundred papers in international journals and conferences and has co‑edited two books. Before joining the University of Sherbrooke, he worked for over five years in industry as a consultant, senior analyst, and project manager for several companies across various sectors, including manufacturing (Alcan, Cascades), banking (Royal Bank of Canada, National Bank of Canada, Desjardins, BFD/ÆBIS), pharmaceutical (Merck Frosst), aerospace (Canadian Space Agency), and telecommunications (Nortel). He regularly collaborates on research projects with industry and with the various levels of government.
